2120 Music Supports the Music Industry Review

Here at 2120 Music, we welcome the report 'Raising Their Voices' - an independent review which found widespread sexual harassment and systemic discrimination in the Australian contemporary music industry, released on September 1, 2022.

This report presents the findings of an independent review into sexual harm, sexual harassment and systemic discrimination in the Australian contemporary music industry.

A recommendation of the report - #4 Increase diversity, equity and inclusion in the music industry - has particular relevance to women, who have been traditionally under-represented - especially songwriters - for decades in the music industry.

The report called for industry leaders to take charge of the situation and changing the contemporary music industry culture requires a whole-of-industry commitment to safety, inclusion and respect; an approach that should be championed and driven by industry leaders and influential figures.

2120 Music actively support diversity and especially female songwriters. 60% of the artists we've booked for our Songwriter Sessions since 2019 are women. We know that women are under-represented across all areas of the music industry and that was one of the reasons we started our Songwriter Sessions.

Signatories to the Report include CMC Rocks and Country Music Association of Australia (CMAA)
