In conjunction with Lucie Tiger, 2120 Music launched our Songwriter Showcase events to fill a gap in the live music scene in Sydney for singer-songwriters. Aside from Open Mic nights, there were no singer-songwriter events in Sydney.

Songwriting is a deeply personal, creative practice and songwriter showcase events provide a safe, respectful environment for singer-songwriters to display their songwriting skills and test new songs to a receptive audience.

At our songwriter events, we encourage artists to respect each other's performances. We believe that it is disrespectful for artists to tune up while others are playing, walk directly in front of an artist mid song, or set up their gear alongside a performing artist - these are all unwanted distractions to both the artist and the audience. Not all singer-songwriters like to have another artist add solo music or background vocals especially if they're playing a new song, so it's best to check with the artist beforehand. 

2120 Music is also dedicated to supporting live music venues and we encourage artists and their guests to buy food and beverages at the venue, thereby supporting live music venues and helping them to remain viable businesses. 

For all our events, we promote and tag all singer-songwriters as well as the venue via social media and we ask that artists at our events do the same - a rising tide lifts all boats.
